Kim Foster Yardley, M.A., C. Psych. Assoc. (supervised practice)
Kim Foster Yardley received a Masters degree in clinical psychology from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2004, and she is currently under supervised practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
She has 15 years' experience in the field of psychology and psychotherapy and she has worked in inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, higher education, and private practice. Her focus is on seeing adolescents (16 and older), adults, and couples. She also has run several short-term and long-term groups focused on: mindfulness skills, creative expression, interpersonal skills, and skills for dealing with distress. She is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and, with this treatment approach, has helped clients to overcome panic, anxiety , phobias, and attachment trauma. Kim has utilized EMDR and sports psychology for the performance enhancement of athletes such as professional golf players and national sports teams.
Kim has extensive clinical experience in dealing with anxiety, depression, sexuality, difficulties related to maintaining and building relationships, and trauma. She utilizes cognitive behaviour therapy, emotion-focused therapy , dialectical behaviour therapy , and insight-oriented therapy. Kim provides a warm, supportive environment for developing self-awareness and increasing self-mastery. She assists individuals to establish strong and healthy connections with others but, most importantly, to form a capacity for having ease within themselves. Psychotherapy is an opportunity for self-development and empowerment. Kim sees herself as a facilitator of this process and can offer treatment in both English and Afrikaans.
