Dr. Esther Price, PhD, C. Psych. (supervised practice)
Dr. Esther Price is a Psychologist in Supervised Practice. She began her career after studying Clinical Psychology at the University of Cape Town (1999) and qualifying to practice as a psychologist in South Africa. She sought further training and pursued her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Houston which she completed in 2007. Dr. Price has spent the past 16 years involved primarily with research, teaching, training and supervising advanced clinical psychology trainees as a faculty member at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. During this time, Dr. Price operated her own private practice treating mental health challenges in adolescents, young adults and new parents as they navigated difficult transitions in their lives.
Dr. Price has extensive experience working in a variety of multicultural settings, and has served people from all ages and all walks of life. She strives to create genuine connections and treats people with a variety of psychological challenges, with an especial interest in mood and anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress (including intergenerational trauma), and ADHD (including adults). Dr. Price is experienced in a variety of evidence-based approaches including (but not limited to) brief-term psychodynamic therapy, evidence-based trauma therapies, play therapy, and cognitive-behavioural therapies. In her work, Dr. Price incorporates mindfulness, dialectical behavioural techniques, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance skills. She endeavours to provide services with respect, integrity and curiosity with the hope of optimizing quality of life.
