Certified Mental Performance Consultant

Serena MacLeod is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant in Canada. She specializes in providing mental performance support to athletes, performers, first responders, business executives and teams.

Serena provides psychological support through one-on-one consultations and psychoeducational workshops both remotely and in person. She has experience providing support to individuals of all ages from adolescent recreational athletes to CEOs to Olympic/Paralympic level athletes. She is passionate about supporting individuals to enhance and maintain their performance levels and psychological well-being. Some of the areas Serena supports individuals with are managing pre-performance anxiety, imposter syndrome, mental blocks/the “yips”, returning to sport/exercise after an injury, fear of re-injury, perfectionism, fear of failure, navigating acquired disability post-injury and self-esteem and self-confidence.

As a practitioner, Serena is compassionate, empathic and flexible. She uses a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to help individuals develop self-awareness and implement different coping mechanisms to manage current stressors.

Currently, Serena provides her expertise to organisations including AFC Toronto, The Royal Ballet, Jorgen Dance, Canada Soccer (Canada Men’s U16 Soccer Team) and Imperial College London. Previously, she worked for the NBA, Reading FC, UK Athletics, Swim England and Oxford University.
