Our Services - Assessments
A comprehensive psychological assessment is an important first step in identifying the cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and interpersonal difficulties confronting an individual, couple, or family. FVB psychologists offer various types of assessments ranging from an informal appraisal conducted as part of the on-going psychotherapeutic process or more formal assessments involving both in-depth interviews and the completion of a battery of psychological tests.
Indeed, the latter approach is often recommended or required in a number of circumstances, for example:
- The assessment of emotional coping difficulties or disorders which impact on an individual's ability to function in their personal or professional lives.
- Psychoeducational assessments: For further information, please go to our Child and Family section.
- Disability assessments to determine psychological and/or vocational impairments following injury or onset of disease. Such assessments are often initiated by an individual’s lawyer, or by insurance companies, social service agencies, and others. (See also our Psycholegal Services).
